Day 30

It is Darren's birthday tomorrow. I have taken decorating classes, but no one besides my brother likes that yucky Wilton icing. Darren likes plain whip cream on his cake. (get your minds out of the gutter!!!!)

Day 26

We are eagerly awaiting Apple's big announcement tomorrow. I think it will bookend our collection quite nicely.

Day 24

Leaning tower of YUM! Waking up on a Sunday morning to pancakes is the best thing ever. I woke up to a dog needing a walk and a husband asleep on the couch who can't cook anyway. After I got back from the park, I made pancakes.

Day 18

I know it is early, but I hope this is the first of many this season.

Day 17

This is a new senior's home in my neighbourhood. This is how my generation is going to punish the baby boomers.

Day 16

Halifax is a working port city. I love seeing the containers moving to and from the boats and trains.

Did you know you could buy a container for around $3000? I have a coworker that is thinking of buying one and turning it into a home to have the ability not to return from parental leave.

Day 15

In the winter my Friday nights are spent curling. This is my team. This was the best photo out of many. We don't win many games either.

Day 14

I hate when things are really matchy matchy, whether it be a decorated room or an outfit. Then I realized my outfit matched my bathroom.

Day 13

The empty part of this dish contained cheezies. Not hard to tell which we like the best.

Day 12

This is the view from my kitchen. At least the sun was out, but it was as cold as f*(&. That is why the photo was taken through the back door.

Day 11

This was my dog's favorite toy when we first got him. I used to repair it after he fell asleep.

Day 9

It has been a dark and dreary week for picture taking. I took this one when I was walking the dog. It wasn't even 5pm and it was already dark out.

Day 8

This store has been vacant for a year. I dreamed of opening a local coffee shop and bakery in this spot. After some initial investigation, I realized I wasn't ready to do this yet. The store stayed vacant until I recently saw a sign that said Starbucks was moving into this spot. Boo to a big conglomerate crushing my dreams, but yay to having pumpkin spice lattes within walking distance of my house.

Day 7

Knitting is another hobby that I don't do enough. This is a sweater I started in the fall. It is for a child, so it is really small. I hope to have it finished by the time this blog is done.

Day 6

Today is Old Christmas Day, although I am sure only those in Newfoundland have any idea what I am talking about. We will hold on to any holiday for an excuse to party.

It is also the Epiphany, which is supposed to be the day that the wisemen showed up with their gifts for the Baby Jesus. These wisemen were made in China, so they probably have a little lead mixed in with their frankincense and myrrh.

Day 5

There is a lot of talk about why east coasters have a high rate of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. This is the reason. Garlic Fingers. A pizza crust topped with a layer of garlic butter smothered in gooey cheese. We then dip them in a sweet sauce that makes the average diabetic reach for their insulin. Every east coaster living west of Montreal craves them. I know I did.

Day 4

I have a rule about sweets. If they are homemade and it is Christmas, then I can eat them guilt free. This is the last of the fudge. After they are gone, all my Catholic guilt will come back every time I glance at a pastry.

Sunday, January 3, 2010

Day 3

You can see the wall of snow in the reflection of my bumper. It was a late Christmas present from the city plow.

Saturday, January 2, 2010

Day 2

Darren's grandmother recently went into a senior's home. She lived in her house for 65 years and she was a huge pack rat, so it took a while to clear out all her stuff. Although she wanted her family to have her treasures, a lot went in dumpsters (yes plural!). Because I had storage space, I received her dishes. We were having friends for dinner, so I thought it would be a good time to use them.

Lesson of the day: Use your stuff while you can. Eventually a loved one is just going to throw it out anyway!

Once in a blue moon.

So I have decided to start a Project 365. I bought my DSLR 4 years ago, and with the exception of 4000 pictures of my dog, I seldom use the camera. You could say I use it once in a blue moon, so last night's blue moon on NYE inspired me to start this blog.
